The Auckland CDEM team has been undergoing an organisational change process. The purpose of this change was to design and implement a future facing, fit for purpose structure ensuring effective capability within the team to deliver on our objectives. Emergency management is evolving and that is allowing us to aspire to a change in our approach. There is a requirement for a fundamental shift from the traditional delivery of CDEM services to a proactive and more strategic approach to building a resilient Auckland, making the community the centre of all that we do.
The new CDEM department structure goes live on 20 June and is a result of staff workshops, feedback from stakeholders and guidance from the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management. An internal recruitment process was undertaken; however a number of staff will not be taking a position in the new structure.
