Crime related questions

 

Q:Is it ok to leave windows open using security stays while not at home?

A:

These are great when you are at home but close all windows when not at home

 

 
Q:What do we do if we see a strange car parked in the same location in your street for days?

A:

Take a closer look at the vehicle

Has its door and ignition barrel been damaged

Call your local police station and report it see if it has been stolen

If it hasn't been stolen then call the Manukau City Council Call Centre on 2625104 (24 hours 7 day a week call centre) and report an abandoned vehicle.

Q:What should I do if graffiti appears in my street?

A:

Call the Manukau City Council Call Centre on 2625104 (24 hours 7 day a week call centre) and report the location of the graffiti. If you can take a picture of it, supply it to your Community Constable.

A:

Q: My neighbour isnt home and there is someone in their backyard and I don't recognise them. What should I do?

A:

Call 111 immediately

Q:If my neighbour's house alarm goes off and they are not home, what should I do?

A:

Check to see if there is any vehicle in the driveway, if you do not recognise the vehicle then call 111, otherwise if there is no vehicle then check out the property preferably with someone else and if you don't find anything wrong. Let your neighbour know that their alarm had activated.

Q: What should do if I see a strange vehicle in my neighbour's driveway?

A:

Check to see if neighbours at home, you could phone them to check. If no reply you could check further, and if you see anybody acting suspiciously then call 111.


 

Q:When should I call 111?

A:

When life or property are at risk or if an offender has just left the scene of a crime. If the offender left sometime ago or if you come home and find your home has been burgled then call your local police station not 111.
