DOOR
KNOCKING - TREE CUTTERS
The
police advise residents to refuse permission to anyone who knocks on your door
to use your toilet, or phone or cut your trees.
If you
have any trees to be pruned get quotes from reliable companies. Look up the Yellow
Pages or look in the classified advertisements of our local papers.
Over
the years police had received many compliants and reports about these people and
if you are approached at home, just refuse and say your trees do not need cutting.
Some residents have been given very big bills and sometimes people have been asked
for payment prior to them commencing work.
Please note
that not all the door knocking tree cutters fall into this category, but be wary
and ensure you know who you are dealing with eg signwritten vehicle and business
cards.
These people sometimes wear high visiblity vests.
These people can sometimes be very persitent which can be very intimidating for
elderly people so if you see these people around and you have elderly neighbours
please keep on eye on them.
If you have any concerns
with these people please get their vehicle registration details and pass this
onto local police along with the time and descriptions of the people.
